About Cooee Merino

Cooee Merinos was established to breed functional, profitable sheep for modern commercial systems.

Based in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Cooee operates under a Soft Rolling Skin breeding philosophy focused on plain-bodied structure, fertility and durability. The objective is straightforward — sheep that work in real conditions.

The stud has been built on disciplined selection, objective measurement and practical assessment in the paddock. Structural soundness, constitution and longevity are essential traits, not optional ones.

Cooee genetics are developed with commercial producers in mind. These sheep are expected to lamb unassisted, travel, maintain condition and cut commercially relevant wool without excess management.

We are committed to steady genetic progress and balanced performance. The aim is long-term improvement that strengthens enterprise profitability.

“We started Cooee with a clear belief that the modern Merino needs to be tougher, plainer and more fertile than what we’ve seen in the past.

Sheep must justify their place in the system. They need to handle variable seasons, raise strong lambs and produce quality wool without excessive labour or inputs.

Cooee is about building that kind of sheep - balanced, resilient and commercially relevant.”
