Our Story

Cooee began with the belief that the Merino needed to adapt.

We set out to breed sheep that were tougher, plainer and more fertile — sheep capable of performing in commercial conditions without constant intervention.

From the beginning, structure and constitution were priorities. We were drawn to plain-bodied sheep with mobility, balance and the ability to travel and maintain condition. Reduced wrinkle and functional design were practical decisions, not trends.

As the flock developed, we committed to objective measurement and disciplined selection. Performance recording and data-backed decisions became central to the process. Genetic progress needed to be deliberate and sustainable, not reactive.

Cooee continues to evolve, but the direction remains clear. We are focused on breeding Merinos that are resilient, commercially relevant and capable of delivering both wool and meat performance in modern production systems.

For us, good sheep are the ones that make life simpler and enterprises stronger.
